FieldLink Convert
MapShots is making a free conversion utility available to
convert Agris FieldLink and FieldLink II files to shapefile
and XML formats. This is a stand-alone implementation of the
FieldLink Field Operations Data Device (FODD) that is included
in the MapShots desktop applications.
From 1992 to 1999, FieldLink (and its predecessor MapLink)
was one of the most widely used GPS applications used for
mapping boundaries and performing grid sampling. Today, applications
that run on the Pocket PC platform such as HGIS
by StarPal or Site Mate by Farm Works have become more popular.
These products, as with most current GPS and GIS applications,
utilize the ESRI shapefile format. FieldLink Convert makes
it is possible to utilize historical sample maps from FieldLink
in these newer applications.
